Fixing HTML Tags in RSS Email Body

If you’re seeing raw HTML like <p> or &amp; inside your RSS emails, a simple bracket change can fix it.

Fixing Broken Formatting in Your RSS Emails

You may notice HTML tags or symbols showing up in your emails instead of clean formatting.

This usually happens when RSS content is treated as plain text instead of rendered as HTML.

When that happens, things like paragraphs, links, and special characters don’t display correctly.

This guide will show you how to fix RSS formatting issues so your emails display clean, readable content.

Once you understand why HTML tags appear in RSS emails, follow the steps below to update your settings and render content properly inside your BizStackPro Email Builder.

Understanding the Issue

RSS Header and RSS Item elements pull content from your RSS feed (usually XML). In some cases, that content is treated as plain text and gets HTML-escaped, which makes tags and special characters show up in the email.

Example: A feed might contain & or HTML markup. If it’s escaped, you may see &amp; or <p> in the email instead of clean formatting.

Steps to Resolve HTML Escaping

The fix is to switch the RSS element to Custom and use triple brackets so RSS variables render as HTML.

  1. Open the Email Builder and select your RSS Header or RSS Item element.
  2. In the left panel, open RSS Editing Options and choose Custom.
  3. Replace double brackets {{ }} with triple brackets {{{ }}} for RSS variables.
  4. Save your changes and preview the email to confirm formatting.

Follow along: Only the RSS variables need updating. Keep the surrounding HTML/layout intact—just change {{ to {{{ and }} to }}}.

Why Triple Brackets Work

Triple brackets tell the system to treat the value as HTML output instead of plain text. That prevents the “escaped tags” look and allows content like titles, summaries, images, and links to render properly.

Pro tip: If you’re still seeing raw tags after updating, double-check that every RSS variable inside that element uses triple brackets (one missed variable can keep the issue visible).

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes HTML escaping?

Special characters and markup from the RSS feed can get escaped when the content is treated as plain text, which makes tags and symbols display literally.

Does this affect all RSS emails?

No—usually only feeds (or feed fields) containing escaped characters or embedded markup trigger it.

Can I use triple brackets everywhere?

You can, but it’s best to apply triple brackets specifically to RSS variables that should render HTML (so you don’t unintentionally change how plain text fields display).

Fix RSS Formatting in Minutes

Switch to Custom, update to {{{ triple brackets }}}, preview, and your RSS emails should render cleanly again.
