RSS Blocks in the Email Builder

Automatically send dynamic content emails using RSS Header and RSS Items blocks in BizStackPro’s Email Builder. Pull titles, descriptions, links, and publish dates straight from your RSS feed.

Automating Email Content With Dynamic RSS Blocks

You may want to send regular content updates, but manually building each email can slow down your workflow.

RSS blocks let you automatically pull in new content from your feed, so your emails stay updated without constant editing.

Without understanding how RSS blocks work, content may not populate correctly or campaigns may not update as expected.

This guide will show you how to use RSS Header and RSS Items blocks so your emails update dynamically and stay consistent.

Once you understand how RSS blocks function, follow the sections below to build your template, configure your feed, and schedule automated campaigns inside your BizStackPro account.

Overview

RSS blocks let you build an email once and automatically populate it with new content whenever your feed updates. BizStackPro provides two RSS blocks: RSS Header (feed-level info) and RSS Items (individual posts/items).

Follow along: You’ll get the best results when you schedule using RSS Email Campaign (not regular scheduling).

RSS Header Block

The RSS Header block pulls channel tags (feed-level details) like your feed title, description, URL, and last build date. You can choose Basic or Custom:

  • Basic: Inserts predefined, non-editable RSS tags.
  • Custom: Fully editable, letting you format and arrange values however you want.

Common channel variables (examples):

  • — Feed title
  • — Feed description
  • — Feed URL
  • — Last build date

Pro tip: You can often reuse the same RSS variables inside your subject line (where supported) to keep newsletters fresh without rewriting.

RSS Items Block

RSS Items displays the individual feed posts/items. This is the block that turns your email into an automated newsletter. For multiple posts, you typically format the block to loop through items.

Common pattern (loop formatting):

Title: {{ title }}
Link: <a href="[object Object]">{{ rss_items }}</a>
Published: {{ pubDate }}

If your feed includes media groups/images, RSS Items can often display thumbnails when the feed provides image URLs.

Scheduling RSS Emails

RSS content populates during RSS campaign execution—so you’ll want to schedule the email as an RSS Email Campaign.

  1. Go to: Send or Schedule.
  2. Select: RSS Email Campaign.
  3. Enter: A campaign name + your RSS Feed URL.
  4. Choose frequency: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
  5. Set time preferences: Choose time and (where available) excluded days.
  6. Confirm recipients: Pick your list/segment and schedule.

Follow along: After scheduling, the system will pull the latest feed items at send time—up to the item limit you’ve configured in your template.

Why RSS Variables Sometimes Look Blank

RSS variables can appear empty if the email is not being generated through the RSS campaign flow, or if the feed URL is missing/invalid.

  • Make sure you used RSS Email Campaign (not standard scheduling).
  • Confirm the RSS Feed URL is valid and publicly accessible.
  • Test with a feed that has recent posts/items.

Managing Scheduled RSS Campaigns

  • Edit: Updates typically cancel the current schedule and reschedule with the new configuration.
  • Pause/Resume: Temporarily stop sending, then restart when ready.
  • Delete: Permanently removes the scheduled RSS campaign.

Example: Pause your RSS campaign during a holiday week, then resume on your normal cadence without rebuilding the template.

Want “set it and forget it” newsletters?

RSS blocks help you automate content delivery while BizStackPro handles the sending, segmentation, and tracking—so your list stays engaged without constant manual work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I use the RSS Elements in the Email Builder?

Add the RSS Header and/or RSS Items blocks, then format them using RSS variables to display your feed title, posts, links, dates, and more.

What is the difference between Basic and Custom options?

Basic inserts a predefined layout that you can’t fully edit. Custom lets you style and format exactly how your RSS content appears.

How do I schedule an RSS email campaign?

In Send or Schedule, choose RSS Email Campaign, enter your feed URL, pick daily/weekly/monthly, set the time, select recipients, and schedule.

Why do my RSS variables show empty text?

This usually happens when you use regular scheduling or your RSS Feed URL is missing/invalid. Use RSS Email Campaign scheduling to enable dynamic feed population.

What actions can I perform on scheduled RSS campaigns?

You can edit (reschedules), pause/resume, or delete scheduled RSS campaigns.
