How To Submit Mock Data for Forms and Surveys

Test your forms and surveys safely by submitting dummy entries—so you can confirm field settings, styling, and submission flow before going live.

Testing Your Forms and Surveys Before Going Live

You may build a form or survey, but testing it first helps catch issues before real users interact with it.

Submitting mock data lets you verify fields, logic, styling, and submission behavior without affecting live results.

Without testing, small errors can lead to lost leads or broken user experiences.

This guide will show you how to safely test your setup so everything works correctly before publishing.

Once you understand how mock submissions work, follow the steps below to test your forms or surveys, review the results, and clean up test data inside your BizStackPro account.

Why Submit Mock Data?

Mock submissions let you test your form or survey exactly like a real visitor—without worrying about messing up reporting, confusing your team, or relying on “guesswork” for field behavior.

  • Confirm required fields, custom fields, and validation rules
  • Verify styling (fonts, spacing, colors, layout)
  • Test submission actions (thank-you message, redirect, workflow triggers)
  • Review how submissions appear in the Submissions dashboard

Follow along: You’ll submit a dummy entry, then review it in Submissions and (optionally) remove it from Contacts.

Step 1: Build or Open the Form/Survey

  1. Go to SitesForms or SurveysBuilder.
  2. Open the form/survey you want to test (or create a new one).
  3. Add standard and custom fields as needed.
  4. Use the right-side options to style the layout and design.
  5. Click Save.

Step 2: Place It Where Visitors Will Use It

To test the full experience, place the form/survey on the page where it will actually be used (like a funnel step or landing page).

  1. Open the page editor (funnel step, website page, etc.).
  2. Add the Form or Survey element to the page.
  3. Configure submit behavior (message/redirect) if applicable.
  4. Save your changes.

Pro tip: Testing on the real page catches issues that don’t show up inside the builder (spacing, mobile layout, page-level scripts, etc.).

Step 3: Submit Mock Data

  • Preview the page (often the eye icon).
  • Fill the form with dummy info (example: [email protected]).
  • Submit the form/survey.

What you’ll see: A new submission appears in your Submissions tab, and a test contact may be created in your Contacts list (depending on your setup).

Step 4: Review the Submission

  1. Go to Forms or SurveysSubmissions.
  2. Filter to the specific form/survey you tested.
  3. Click the submission timestamp/date to view details.
  4. Confirm the values saved correctly and appear in the right fields/columns.

Optional Cleanup: Remove Test Contacts

If your test created a contact record, you can delete it to keep your database clean.

  1. Go to Contacts.
  2. Search for your test email/phone.
  3. Delete the test contact (and any related test submissions if your workflow includes cleanup).

Want cleaner testing + smoother launches?

Mock submissions help you catch errors before visitors do—so your forms convert better from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete mock data after testing?

Yes. Find the test contact in Contacts and delete it manually.

Will submitting mock data affect live submissions?

No. Your test entry is only used for verification and does not impact real visitors.

Can I test multiple forms or surveys?

Yes. Submit mock data for each form or survey separately.

Do I need to publish the form or survey to test it?

No. You can test it in preview mode without publishing.

Test Before You Publish

A quick mock submission takes minutes—and saves you from broken fields, bad logic, and missed leads later.
