How to Invite New Members to Your Community Group

Learn how to invite new members to a BizStackPro community group by email or shareable invitation link.

Quick Answer

How do you invite someone to a community group?

Open Memberships → Communities → Groups, select the group, click Login, and open the Members tab. Select Invite Member to send an email invitation, or use the group invitation option to copy and share a direct invite link.

How Community Invitations Work

Community invitations help owners and administrators bring new people into a BizStackPro community group.

You can send a direct email invitation to a specific person or copy a shareable invite link for use in an email, direct message, chat, or other private communication.

Email invitations are useful when the invitation should be tied to a known name and email address. Invite links are useful when you need a faster way to share access with several people.

Private groups may still require approval

Joining through an email invitation or invite link does not necessarily bypass the approval process for a private community group.

Step 1: Invite Members by Email

Owners and administrators can send direct email invitations from the community group's Members area.

Open Communities

Go to Memberships → Communities → Groups.

Select the Community Group

Choose the group where you want to invite the new member.

Log In to the Group

Click Login to enter the selected community group.

Open the Members Tab

Select Members to view and manage the people connected to the group.

Select Invite Member

Click Invite Member to open the invitation form.

Enter the Member Details

Enter the invitee's name and email address.

Choose the Member Role

Enable Admin privileges only when the person should help manage the community group.

Send the Invitation

Click Invite to send the standardized invitation email.

Multiple email addresses can be entered

You can invite multiple people by entering their email addresses one after another during the invitation process.

Invitation emails cannot currently be customized

The invitation message is standardized. Review any additional context you want to send separately before inviting the member.

What Happens After You Send an Invitation

The next step depends on whether the invited person already has an account.

New Users

A new user receives an email prompting them to create an account before joining the community group.

Existing Users

An existing user is redirected through a magic link that helps them join the selected community group.

Invitation Expiration

Invitation links expire after 30 days. Send a new invitation when the original link is no longer valid.

Private Group Approval

A member joining a private group may still need administrator approval before receiving full access.

What Invited Members Experience

Invited members complete a short account and access process before entering the group.

Open the Invitation

The person clicks the invitation email or shared invite link.

Sign Up or Log In

New users create an account. Existing users log in to their current account.

Join the Community Group

The member follows the invitation process to join the selected group.

Wait for Approval When Required

If the group is private, an administrator may need to approve the membership request before access is granted.

Community Invitation Best Practices

Confirm the Email Address
Reason: A correct email address helps ensure that the invitation reaches the intended person.
Grant Administrator Access Carefully
Reason: Administrators may be able to manage members and other group settings, so the role should only be assigned when needed.
Explain What the Invitation Is For
Reason: Because the standardized invitation email cannot be customized, a separate message can help the person understand why they are being invited.
Resend Expired Invitations
Reason: Invitation links expire after 30 days and must be replaced when the person has not joined in time.
Review Private Group Requests
Reason: Invited members may still remain pending until an administrator approves access to a private group.
