Quick Answer
How do you create a private community channel?
Create a new channel inside your BizStackPro community group and enable the Private Channel option. To convert an existing public channel, open its settings, select Change to private channel, and then use the Members tab to add the people who should have access.
What Private Channels Do
Private channels let you control visibility inside a community group. Only members who have been added to the channel can see it, post in it, and access content connected to it.
This makes private channels useful for VIP access, staff discussions, paid membership tiers, cohort-based learning, client-only spaces, and other restricted experiences.
Instead of creating a separate group for every audience, you can organize selected members inside private channels while keeping everyone connected to the same main community.
Private channels are hidden from non-members
A private channel will not appear in the channel list for people who have not been added to it.

Step 1: Create a New Private Channel
Create a channel inside the community group and restrict its visibility during setup.
Open the Community Group
Open the BizStackPro community group where you want to create the private channel.
Create a New Channel
Start the process for adding a new channel inside the group.
Enter the Channel Details
Add a clear channel name and any other required information. You may also add an emoji to make the channel easier to identify.
Enable Private Channel
Turn on the Private Channel option during channel setup.
Save the Channel
Review the channel details and save the new private channel.
Add Members
Open the channel's Members tab and add the people who should be able to see and use it.
Organize access by member role
Private channels can separate VIP members, students, coaches, clients, staff, or other audiences without requiring a different community group for each one.
Step 2: Convert an Existing Channel to Private
An existing public channel can be changed to private from its channel settings.
Open the Existing Channel
Select the public channel that you want to restrict.
Open Channel Settings
Open the settings for the selected channel.
Open the Settings Tab
Select the Settings tab inside the channel configuration.
Change the Channel to Private
Select Change to private channel.
Reopen the Channel Settings
After the visibility change is complete, reopen the channel settings.
Add Channel Members
Open the Members tab and add each person who should retain access to the newly private channel.
Add members before announcing the channel
After the channel becomes private, it is hidden from everyone who has not been explicitly added. Confirm that the correct members have access before directing people to the channel.
Step 3: Manage Channel Managers and Permissions
Private channels use channel-specific management permissions rather than relying only on the standard group administrator role.
Group Owner
The group owner is automatically added as a channel manager when the channel becomes private.
Channel Creator
The person who created the channel is also automatically added as a channel manager.
Additional Managers
Other members can be added through the Members tab and assigned as channel managers.
Group Administrators
Group administrators do not automatically have authority inside a private channel. They must be assigned as channel managers.
The group owner normally remains in the channel
The original guide states that the group owner typically cannot leave a private channel, which helps prevent the channel from being left without an owner-level manager.
Step 4: Control Course Visibility
Private channels can also restrict courses and learning content to selected community members.
Open the Course Settings
Open the settings for the course or learning item that should be restricted.
Find the Visibility Setting
Locate the course visibility or access control options.
Select Private Channel
Set the course visibility to Private Channel or select the appropriate private channel as the visibility rule.
Confirm Channel Membership
Make sure every person who should access the course has been added to the selected private channel.
Save the Visibility Setting
Save the course settings and confirm that only members of the selected channel can see the content.
Use channel visibility for tiered learning
Private-channel visibility can help separate courses by membership level, cohort, client type, or other access requirements.
