How to Deactivate and Activate Calendars

Temporarily stop new bookings without deleting your calendar settings, booking URL, or appointment history.

Quick Answer

Use the calendar’s three-dot menu to change its activation status

Open Settings → Calendars, locate the calendar, open its three-dot menu, and choose Deactivate calendar. To restore it, return to the same menu and select Activate Calendar.

Turning Off Bookings Without Losing Your Calendar Setup

You may need to stop accepting appointments temporarily without removing the calendar entirely.

Deactivating a calendar lets you pause new bookings while keeping the calendar’s settings, URL, availability configuration, and appointment history in place.

This is useful for paused services, seasonal offers, limited staffing, schedule changes, or internal updates.

When the calendar is ready to accept appointments again, it can be reactivated from the same calendar menu.

When to Deactivate a Calendar

Seasonal Services

Pause a calendar for a service that is only offered during certain months or business periods.

Temporary Service Pauses

Stop new appointments while keeping the calendar available for future use.

Limited Staffing

Prevent new bookings while the necessary team members are unavailable.

Internal Changes

Pause bookings while updating availability, forms, locations, payments, notifications, or staff assignments.

Before You Begin

Review the selected calendar and any appointments already scheduled through it.

  • Confirm that you selected the correct calendar.
  • Review existing and upcoming appointments.
  • Decide whether affected clients need to be notified.
  • Review direct booking links shared with customers.
  • Check websites, funnels, calendar groups, or service menus where the calendar appears.
  • Confirm that deactivation is preferable to permanent deletion.

Do not delete a calendar for a temporary pause

Deactivation preserves the calendar configuration. Deleting the calendar may remove the setup and require it to be rebuilt later.

How to Deactivate a Calendar

Open Calendar Settings

Open the calendar-management area inside BizStackPro.

Settings → Calendars

Find the Calendar

Locate the calendar you want to deactivate.

Open the Three-Dot Menu

Click the three-dot menu for the selected calendar.

Select Deactivate Calendar

Choose Deactivate calendar from the available menu options.

Confirm the Change

Confirm the deactivation in the popup window.

Check Whether a Calendar Is Active or Inactive

Use the Status column in the calendar settings list to identify the current state of each calendar.

Active

The calendar is enabled and can accept new bookings according to its availability and other settings.

Inactive

The calendar has been deactivated and is not currently available for new bookings.

Use the Status column before making changes

Checking the current status first helps prevent accidentally deactivating an already inactive calendar or activating the wrong booking option.

What Happens to Existing Appointments?

Deactivating a calendar does not delete the appointments that have already been scheduled.

The appointment history remains intact and becomes visible again with the calendar when it is reactivated.

Existing appointments may still require attention

Review upcoming appointments before deactivating the calendar. Deactivation prevents new bookings, but it does not automatically cancel, reschedule, or communicate changes for appointments that already exist.

How to Activate a Calendar

Return to Calendar Settings

Open the calendar-management area.

Settings → Calendars

Find the Deactivated Calendar

Use the calendar list and Status column to locate the inactive calendar.

Open the Three-Dot Menu

Click the three-dot menu for the calendar.

Select Activate Calendar

Choose Activate Calendar.

Confirm the Active Status

The calendar becomes active again immediately.

Review the settings before accepting bookings again

Confirm the calendar’s availability, assigned users, meeting location, forms, payments, notifications, and connected calendars before sharing it again.

Verify the Activation Change

Review the calendar list and public booking experience after changing the calendar status.

  • Check the Status column.
  • Confirm the calendar shows as inactive after deactivation.
  • Open the public booking URL.
  • Confirm that new bookings cannot be completed while inactive.
  • Review calendar groups and service menus that contain the calendar.
  • Reactivate the calendar when appropriate.
  • Confirm that the Status column shows it as active.
  • Open the public booking page again.
  • Confirm that available appointment times appear.
  • Complete a test booking.

Troubleshooting Calendar Activation

I cannot find the Deactivate calendar option

Confirm that you opened the three-dot menu for an active calendar. Review your user permissions if the activation controls are unavailable.

The calendar status did not change

Refresh the calendar settings page and check the Status column again. Reopen the menu to confirm the available action.

The calendar is active but no appointment times appear

Review availability, assigned users, connected calendar conflicts, booking limits, minimum scheduling notice, date range, and buffer settings.

The inactive calendar still appears on my website

Refresh the page and review any direct embed, calendar group, service menu, or cached website content. The calendar may remain visible inside the page layout even though it cannot accept bookings.

Existing appointments are not visible

Reactivate the calendar and review its appointment history. Deactivation does not delete the existing appointments.

Next Step

Review every link and page connected to the calendar

After deactivating or reactivating the calendar, check its direct booking link, website embeds, calendar groups, service menus, funnels, and automated messages so customers see the correct appointment options.
