Build, send, and track documents and contracts with e-signatures—add variables and product lists, rearrange pages, set recipients, and auto-create invoices when signed.
Creating, sending, and tracking documents can quickly become disconnected when different tools are used for contracts, signatures, and follow-up actions.
The Documents & Contracts system brings everything into one place, allowing you to build documents, collect signatures, and trigger actions like invoice creation after signing.
Without a unified process, documents can be harder to track, updates may be missed, and the transition from agreement to payment can slow down.
This guide will walk you through how documents and contracts work so you can manage the full process—from creation to completion—more efficiently.
To begin, review how to create a document or contract and the different ways you can start building one.
You can start from scratch, upload a PDF, or pull a ready-to-edit layout from your template library.
Follow along: Upload multiple PDFs in one session, drag-and-drop to reorder pages, then click Upload to merge into a single document.
Click the + in the builder to add elements, then drag them into position.
Pro tip: Mobile signing is supported—recipients can accept/sign in a mobile browser, mark as finished, and download a signed PDF.
Best practice: Reorder pages and finalize layout before sending so recipients see a clean, consistent flow.
Document Variables are placeholders that resolve to real values when the document is executed—perfect for consistent templates and automation.
Follow along: In the builder, search for an existing variable, or click + to create a new one—then insert it into your text blocks.
Pro tip: If a doc is already sent and you need to edit it, move it from Waiting for Others back to Draft. Once it’s Completed, edits aren’t possible.
Public Documents let you publish a shareable link for e-signing without adding contacts. Recipients enter their name and email, then receive a signed copy by email.
Create documents, collect signatures, and trigger invoices automatically—without juggling extra tools.

If it’s in Waiting for Others, move it back to Draft to keep editing. Once it’s Completed, edits aren’t possible.
They’re placeholders that resolve when the document is executed. Search for existing variables or create new ones in the builder to power dynamic content.
