Shipping and delivery settings allow you to define zones and apply pricing rules based on location, cart value, or weight.
Without clear rules, shipping charges can become inconsistent, reduce profit margins, or create confusion during checkout.
This guide will walk you through how to set up shipping zones and rates so your pricing stays predictable and aligned with your business needs.
To begin, locate where shipping and delivery settings are configured in your account.
Where to Configure Shipping & Delivery
Shipping and delivery rates are managed from your Payments settings. This is where you’ll create zones and define the rules that decide what customers pay at checkout.
Follow along: Go to Payments → Settings → Shipping & Delivery.
Create a Shipping Zone
A shipping zone is a group of locations that share the same shipping rules. You can build zones by country, state, or province.
- Click Add Zone.
- Select the locations you want in that zone (country/state/province).
- Click Add Rates to define how much customers pay.
- Save your zone when finished.
Important: You can’t create overlapping zones. Each location can only belong to one zone to avoid pricing conflicts.
Choose Your Rate Logic
You can create rates based on cart total, weight, or combine both in the same zone for more precise pricing.
- Cart total-based rates: Example: free shipping over $500, $10 below $500
- Weight-based rates: Example: different rates depending on total shipment weight
- Combine conditions: Use both cart total and weight rules for flexibility
Pro tip: If you sell heavy items, weight-based rules can protect margins. If you sell lighter items, cart-total thresholds can encourage bigger orders.
Manage Multiple Zones
Add additional zones for different regions (domestic vs. international, specific states/provinces, etc.). Each zone can have its own rate rules.
- Create one zone for your primary market (example: US/Canada).
- Create another zone for international regions (example: UK/DE).
- Create special zones for high-cost delivery areas (example: specific states/provinces).
Example: Shipping Rate Setup
- Zone 1: USA, Canada → Free shipping over $500; $10 otherwise
- Zone 2: UK, Germany → $5 shipping over $300; $15 otherwise
- Zone 3: California, Texas → Free shipping over $400; $8 otherwise
Order tracking: After an order is placed, the applied zone and rate appear in the order details.
Update Rates and Key Limitations
- Update a zone: Payments → Settings → Shipping & Delivery → select zone → edit rates → save.
- No product exclusions: Products are included by default within zone logic (manage product availability separately if needed).
- No zone overlap: A location can belong to only one zone.
